Eucalyptus olida – strawberry gum

APPEARANCE :A NSW native gumtree, smallish in size for a gum. Fluffy white blossoms appear at stem ends from early autumn on. Young leaves are oval and matt green, often purple beneath, on copper-red stems; mature leaves are fairly long and curved, bluish-green, and have a sweet fruity smell.
USE FOR :  Ornamental garden tree, feature shrub when coppiced (cut hard back), wildlife gardens, for flower arranging and floristry, bushtucker, essential oils.
PLANTING :  Plant in full sun, well drained soil, temperate or subtropical climates. Cold hardy to -8C. Grows in poor dry acid soil types in the wild.
CARE : Apply mulch and continue to water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks and regularly during extended dry periods. Prune stems regularly to harvest leaves and keep the tree smaller and bushy.
HEIGHT :  10-20m H x 10-15m W depending on location and pruning regime
